Certification Requirements for Victorian Workplaces
Industrial equipment (Plant) when utilised and operated correctly, will improve efficiency, productivity and safety.
If Plant is used, or intended to be used in your workplace, you must comply with; OHS (Plant) Regulations 1995, OHS (Certification of Plant Users and Operators) Regulations 1994 and Code of Practice for Plant 1995.
The regulations require persons engaged in dogging, rigging, scaffolding work and persons operating certain types of cranes, hoists and load shifting equipment, to hold an appropriate certificate of competency, or to be under direct supervision of a certificate holder or a person with equivalent qualifications.
These regulations, together with a consistent approach to competency standards for operators and the National Certification System, provide workplaces and the general public with an assurance that the certificate holders have been assessed as having the necessary basic skills to carry out the work, safely.
